Their many properties make them the perfect ally for cosmetic products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you work in the cosmetics sector and would like to learn more about alginates, how they are used and their great benefits, we\u2019ll explain it all in this post.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Alginates: what are they, and what are they for?<\/h2>\n<p>Alginates are polysaccharides obtained from brown algae (seaweed).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alginate-based formulations often come in powder form and have an elastic, plastic consistency when added to water.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, formulations based on alginates can be used in dentistry to take moulds or in cosmetics for products like masks, creams, or gels.<\/p>\n<p>They are most often found in face and body masks. They are also in high demand for home cosmetics, as they are easy to apply (just mix with water).<\/p>\n<p>Alginates can be highly useful for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Properly blending cosmetics ingredients.<\/li>\n<li>You can use them as a tool to help modify (increase or decrease) the viscosity of cosmetics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Alginates: characteristics and benefits for the skin<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom: 9.0pt; background: white;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Characteristics<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Some of the most remarkable of the many characteristics of alginates include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Very creamy texture<\/strong>. They have hydrating and firming properties. They are very nutritive, containing carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, minerals, and trace elements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They are characterised by their elasticity and for having a great capacity to copy details exactly<\/strong>. It is a very high-precision material, which is why it is also used to make moulds. Alginates define the contours of the face and roughness of the skin to find where to treat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The viscosity of sodium-alginate solutions is nearly the same regardless of their pH<\/strong>. However, they are slightly higher, closer to neutral.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They have various hardening times<\/strong>. In most cases, they dry quickly but may longer depending on the type of alginate used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the other hand, their technical characteristics are also worth noting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>They are made from natural raw materials, specifically from brown seaweed.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>They are compatible with the skin\u2019s pH.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>They don\u2019t have any preservatives. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The ratio of water to powder (weight) is 3:1.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The hardening time is 5-9\/9-13\/13-19 minutes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Our alginates don\u2019t have any perfumes. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>No diatomaceous earth. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>No phthalates or gluten. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"background: white;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Benefits for the skin<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Plus, alginates have numerous benefits for the skin.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>They firm up the skin and give it more elasticity, <\/strong>strengthening collagen fibres for a lifting effect.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hydrating capacity:<\/strong> Hydration is achieved through occlusion and improved blood circulation in all layers of the skin.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They help eliminate toxins, wrinkles and imperfections,<\/strong> thanks to their firming and collagen-stimulating effects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Suitable for all skin types<\/strong>: Since they are both moisturising and purifying, they are perfect for dry, combination, oily or even sensitive skin.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They act more quickly and precisely than other products.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>They improve blood circulation in all layers of the skin.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our alginates always have the same characteristics and are quality certified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The quality control system used in manufacturing them is ISO certified<\/strong> to the following standards: EN ISO 13485:2016, UNI EN ISO 22716:2008, UNI EN ISO 14001:2015.<\/p>\n<p>We have two types of alginate bases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Neutral alginate base<\/strong>: Formulation in powder without active ingredients, colourants, or perfumes.
